The Team

This is the team that builds your houses and solves your renovation problems. Together we have over 130 years of construction, planning, excavation, and fine carpentry experience. In short, everything you need to get your job done with unparalleled peace of mind. Plus we are lots of fun to work with because we love what we do.

Charles E. Goodman III
Founder

Charlie has been living and breathing construction for over 45 years. From site work to construction, his work has touched every aspect of homebuilding in the Mad River Valley. He has also served on the local select board and is currently the Waitsfield road commissioner. He and his wife Liz moved to the valley from Pennsylvania when they were in their 20s, and raised three boys while building up Goodman Construction.

Charles E. Goodman IV
President

The oldest of the three Goodman brothers, Charlie built his first house when he was just 15. After graduating with distinction from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (with a degree in Civil Engineering), he went to work full time, while pulling down an MBA from Northeastern, and was among the top students in his class. After college, he worked for some large general contractors, building residential, commercial and educational buildings in Massachusetts, Florida and Virginia. But the mountains of Vermont were calling, and in 2012 he moved back to the Mad River Valley to take over the family business. He and his wife Susie (a nurse) live in Waitsfield with their twins, Charlie and Isla.

Nate Goodman
Project Supervisor

Nate joined the team in 2014. He has spent most of his life in Mad River Valley, graduating from Harwood Union High School and receiving an Associate’s Degree from Hesser College. He has held a variety of jobs in the construction industry, from labor foreman and assistant superintendent to carpenter and telephone lineman. Nate lives with his wife, Krystle, and their daughters Kinley and Nora, in Waitsfield.

Wilson Pierce
Project Supervisor

Wilson joined Goodman in 2016. Born and raised in Warren, he has spent most of his life in the Mad River Valley, graduating from Harwood Union High School. He brings several years of construction experience to the team and is also deeply involved in our community. An avid soccer and basketball player, in winter he can be found shredding the rare powder day at Sugarbush. He lives with his girlfriend, Eliza, in Waitsfield.

Chase Reagan
Carpenter

Born and raised in Moretown, Chase graduated from Harwood Union High School and UVM (with a degree in forestry and GIS) and has been with Goodman since 2016, working first in electrical and now in carpentry as well. When he's not stringing outlets or securing joists, he likes hiking, skiing, and flyfishing.

Jay Touchette
Jay Touchette
Carpenter

Jay was born and raised in Waterbury Center and graduated from Harwood Union High School. He has great depth in both his carpentry and masonry skills, thanks to having worked in construction since he was 12, initially in his father’s construction business. He joined Goodman in 2021, and when he’s not swinging a hammer he loves spending time in the outdoors – camping, hunting, fishing – with his young daughter and wife, Jennifer.

Avery Gaudette
Electrician

Avery grew up in Waterbury and attended Harwood High School, then studied at Norwich University for a year before transferring to VTC, in order to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. He worked for six years as an apprentice while pursuing his Electrician’s License (which requires four years of on-the-job training and four years of schooling). He’s been working with the Goodman crew since 2013. When he’s not wiring outlets and lights, you’ll find him mountain biking or snowboarding, or, if it’s deer hunting season (all three of them), working to keep the state’s white tail deer population in check. He and his wife live in Moretown.

Alex Gaudette
Apprentice Electrician

Alex was born and raised in Waterbury, graduating from Harwood Union. Before coming to Goodman, he worked for seven years as a butcher at Hannaford Supermarket. He is now apprenticing as an electrician under his brother Avery. When he’s not connecting the wires or hauling gear, he loves to go hunting and fishing.
